Opioid Prevention Social Media Toolkit
Faced with a growing opioid epidemic …
Washington’s public health educators were racing against the clock. Their mission? To spread the word to families of teenagers that opioid-based prescription medications can lead to addiction, and the use of these and related drugs like heroin can result in overdose and death.
The League leaped into action!
Called upon by an interagency task force, the League of Communicators searched nationwide for a campaign that would meet its expectations. Coming up empty, they created their own eye-popping images and attention-grabbing messages—and wrapped them into a powerful social media toolkit. Distributed to school districts, health departments, tribes and law enforcement agencies, thousands of Washingtonians got the message: With opioids, the key is safe use, safe storage and safe disposal!
